HALLELUJAH! Yes, Praise the Lord! How good it is to sing his praises! How delightful, and how right!
He is rebuilding Jerusalem and bringing back the exiles. He heals the broken-hearted, binding up their wounds. He counts the stars and calls them by name. How great he is! His power is absolute. His understanding is unlimited. Psalms 147:1-5
Our Lord lay in a manger, hung on a cross, and walked out of a tomb. He taught and touched. He healed and loved. No one was invisible in His presence or beyond the reach of His power. Jesus, my friend, is everything. He is more than enough for whatever you face. Devotions for Easter, by Stacy J. Edwards, copyright Zondervan.
Let me show you some kids at work yesterday…
Thanks so much to Greg Baur for his help, his tools and his pickup, and to Bryan Turner for his pickup (again)!
He Is Greater
JamieLee for Short Daily Devotions
My church has been praying big to fill our town’s event center on Easter Sunday.
They made coffee sleeves that are at all the local coffee shops that say “He>_____.”
Meaning: Jesus is greater than whatever you choose to put in the blank.
It has been so encouraging seeing what people choose to write. Freeing to see others write the same things that I, too, struggle with.
As I looked at my coffee sleeve the other day, thinking about what to fill in my blank with…
All of these thoughts came rushing in. He is greater than my finances?
He is greater than my fear?
He is greater than my struggles?
He is greater than my health?
He is greater than anything I have planned for my life?
I could feel the weight getting taken off my shoulders every time I thought of a potential fill-in-the-blank answer.
It was so freeing to take a moment and remind myself that He is greater than anything in my life. Any plan that I could make, any business that I could own, anything that I could have built on my own…He is so much greater than all of it!
What are you putting in your blank, in His hands, today?
He > ________.
“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.” Philippians 3:7-9
Maundy Thursday 7:00 pm Just as Jesus and the disciples did on that evening, we’ll be sitting around the tables, positioned as a cross, in Gage Hall as we re-live the events of that night.
Good Friday 7:00 pm Starting in the Nuckolls Square (if you are able and depending on the weather), and ending in the sanctuary. If you are not able or would rather not, you will be able to watch it all from the Sanctuary as we carry the cross of Jesus into his house.
Sunrise Service Easter 6:30 am Wildwood Shelter House
Traditional Easter Service 10:00 am FUMC Sanctuary
Make it a GREAT day!
